* ASSISTED SUICIDE BILL (AB 651) SET FOR HEARING JUNE

SACRAMENTO - AB 651, the "Compassionate Choices Act" by
Assemblymember Patty Berg (Democrat - Eureka) which has stirred major
controversy among disability and senior advocates has been scheduled for hearing
before the Senate Judiciary Committee, June 20, in the State Capitol.
Opponents call the proposed legislation "assisted suicide". The
bill would allow doctors to hasten the death of terminally ill patients who have
six months to live, with medications to hasten their deaths.
